Hottest Shops, Clubs in MontrealTravel to Quebec’s Metropolitan for the Best Restaurants
Go shopping in the trendiest boutiques, eat at the chicest restaurants, dance at the hottest nightclubs and stay at the celebrity hotels in Montréal.
Montréal, Quebec is a thriving metropolis of high end style, stylish boutiques and hot nightlife. This Canadian city is full of celebrity sightings at hotels and designer restaurants with well known chefs. St Denis, MontrealAlthough St. Catherine’s Street in downtown Montreal is the longest shopping street in Canada, St Denis Street is better for fierce vintage clothing shopping. Take a walk up and down the street and make sure to hit Memento (3678 St. Denis Street) and Revenge Boutique (3852 St. Denis Street, 514-843-4379). Montreal HotelsA few uber trendy hotels in the city attract celebrities and those with as much money. The Hotel Le St-James (110 West Notre-Dame Street, 514-841-3111) is a star magnet with a luxury spa, while Hotel Nelligan (106 West Saint-Paul Street, 1-877-788-2040) has a similar old world charm. The W Hotel Montreal (901 Square Victoria, 514-395-3100) has an ultra chic interior that’s housed in the historic Banque du Canada building in Old Montréal. Le Plateau MontrealThis hip neighbourhood, called Le Plateau Mont Royal, has gorgeous residential buildings and a stylish bunch of retailers. With a young vibe, the locals have transformed the area from a working class neighbourhood into a quite upscale district. Check out the flagship store of La Canadienne (273 West Laurier Street, 1-877-270-3668) for locally designed, stylish shoes great for the winter, and Miss Swiss (920 East Mont-Royal Avenue, 514-529-9780 and 4271 St-Denis Street) for European styles. Montreal Clothing StoresOther stores spread throughout the city are found in the Mile End neighbourhood, which is a lesser-known but equally as stylish Le Plateau, and Saint Laurent Boulevard north of Sherbrook Street, for an afternoon of star gazing. Also keep an eye out for funky jewellery designer Anne Marie Chagnon in many boutiques and at the Marché Bonsecours (350 East St-Paul Street, 514-872-7730) where twice a year there’s a 75-80% off sale. Shoe devotees will want to flock to Specchio Shoes (2025 Montagne Street, 514-282-2222) where all the European imports are carried. Montreal RestaurantsFood is a serious issue to Montréalers. Lucky for visitors, they can cash in on all the trendy restaurants. Fight it out at Duel Restaurant (1429 rue Amherst, 514-528-1429), where diners can choose between Chefs David Biron and Laurent Godbout; also headed by the latter chef, check out Au Pied de Cochon (536 East Duluth, 514-281-1114), Chez L’Épicier (311 East Saint-Paul Street, 514-878-2232) and Restaurant Version (295 East Saint-Paul Street, 514-871-9135). Also of note are Newtown (1476 Crescent, 514-284-6555), race car driver Jacques Villeneuve’s restaurant and club, and the Mediterranean Trinity Estiatorio Restaurant (1445 Drummond Street, 514-787-4648). Montreal NightclubsFor salsa lovers, head to Club Altitude 737 (1 Place Ville-Marie PH2, 514-397-0737) for rooftop dancing with a view, and Club Cactus (4459 St-Denis Street, 514-868-1649) with a Mexican restaurant below for dinner. More mainstream clubs are along Crescent Street. For the after hours crowd, Stereo Nighclub (858 East St. Catherine Street, 514-286-0325) is the place to be, with the newest DJ’s and amazing stereo systems.
