Within driving distance from the hustle of Montreal or the government glam of Ottawa, Mont Tremblant offers outdoor escapes and family fun any season of the year.

Cradled deep in the picturesque Laurentian Mountains, only two hours north of Montreal, Quebec’s world-renowned ski resort, Mont Tremblant, offers plenty of things to do in summer and winter. Every serious skier knows Mont Tremblant for its world-class slopes, yet the resort shines just as bright when the snow melts.

Surrounded by lush green forests and steep mountains, walking and hiking trails at the base of the mountains challenge even the most experienced trekkers. If you love riding, try journeying around the mountain on horseback, winter or summer.

When the white stuff falls, snowshoe these same tracks or wander some of the better-traveled trails on foot. For a true winter experience, test you nerves on a dog sled.

Other activities to enjoy at Mont Tremblant include:

  • Free Ride - From the base of the mountain, hop on the Cabriolet free of charge. In mere minutes, this gondola catapults you to the ski lift area. You’ll enjoy the short smooth ride but the vistas you see along the way last a lifetime – great photo opportunities. During the highest point along the ride, spot some of the best views of the looming mountain and the colorful jellybean resort.

  • Fast Food – At the base of the mountain food adventures await. In winter, warm your mitts around a hot mug of coffee or cocoa at the ‘Au grain de café bistro’. This quaint café serves the best java on the mountain and the freshly made baguette sandwiches keep your energy up enough to seek out adventure all day.

  • Zip Line - Thrill seekers searching for some speed at Mont Tremblant need look no further than Acrobranche. This high-energy zip line rises 75 feet in the trees, which seems even higher in summer than in winter with its soft cushion of snow underfoot. This suspended obstacle course operates year round and caters to the young and the young at heart. Adults maneuver around a larger course while a separate zip line adventure designed specifically for children makes them forget their skies or hiking boots for an afternoon. Makes a great family activity.

  • Bear Care – Families in search of a rainy day activity must check out the Atelier Toutou. Literally a Teddy bear workshop, children choose the bear they want and how they want it. Everything from the amount of stuffing to how to dress the bear depends on your child’s desires. After a quick wish, the bear’s sewn up and delivered to its new ‘parent’ complete with passport and name.

  • Sweet City – Just a quick jaunt down the hill, make time to stop off at the sugar shack for a sweet treat like frozen taffy on the snow, a popular Quebecois tradition, or a hard maple candy or two – a perfect way to end your time at Mont Tremblant.
